Raymond K. Lewis Ruth Raymond K. Lewis, 64, of Lima, died at 5:40 a.m. Wednesday at Veteran's Administration Hospital, Fort Wayne, following an extended illness. He was born Jan.

20, 1924, in Bonnyman, the son of Martin and Rachel Roundtree Lewis. Mr. Lewis was a job setter and steel worker for Huffy Celina. He was retired from Cook United Stores. He was member of Lima Missionary Baptist Church and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1275.

He was also a Navy veteran of World War II. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Bruce (Bonnie) Opperman of Elida; two sons, K.M. Lewis of Durham, and Phillip Lewis of Celina; four sisters, Mrs. Herbert (Emma) Jent of Austin, Mrs.

Sylvester (Marty) Reinhard of Mountain Home, Mrs. Donald (Loretta) Stocker of and Mrs. Donald (Lucille) Flanagan of Elizabethtown, two brothers, Manuel Lewis and Herman Lewis, both of New Buffalo, and four grandchildren. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home with, burial in Mendon Cemetery.

Smith, 88, of Lima, died at 9:40 a.m. Wednesday at Lost Creek Care Center. She was born April 22, 1900, in Allen County, the daughter of John T. and Jane Lewis Evans. She married Glenn F.

Smith who died in 1979. Mrs. Smith had worked for many years at the YMCA. Survivors include a son, Donald E. Smith of Colorado Springs, 11 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Siferd Westwood Chapel, Rev. Ronald B. Cannon officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Friends may call 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Area native, 101, dies Wednesday CELINA Justus A. Gilberg, 101, formerly of here, died at 7:15 p.m. Wednesday at Country Estate Nursing Home, Westlake.

He was born April 12, 1887, in Celina, the son of Adolph and Harriette Hamilton Gilberg. On Nov. 17, 1920, he married Nancy Fennig who died March 19, 1976. Mr. Gilberg served as the Mercer County Auditor for 12 years.

He was also a news correspondent in Celina for many years. He was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church and Celina Lion's Club. Survivors include a daughter, Justine Gertz of Westlake; a son, Harold Gilberg of Brooklyn, N.Y.; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Services will be at 10:30 a.m.

Burt OAKWOOD Tabitha E. Burt, 66, of here, die 1 at 12:41 p.m. Wednesday at Paulding County Hospital. She was born May 30, 1922, 1 in Broughton, the daughter of Charles E. and Iva Mae Taylor Hofacker.

On Feb. 23, 1945 she married Ray W. Burt Jr. who survives. Mrs.

Burt had been a school custodian for 23 years, having worked at the Melrose Elementary School, Paulding High School and Oakwood Elementary School. She was a 1941 graduate of Haviland High School, Paulding County. She was a member of Melrose United Methodist Church, its Women's Group and Wesleyan Sunday School class and the Oak Leaf Grange at Charloe. Survivors also include two daughters, Mrs. Edwin (Patricia Hiler of Cecil and Mrs.

Tom (Sandra Carpenter of Lansing, two sons, Allan W. Burt and Rev. Jerry L. Burt, both of Oakwood; four sisters, Mrs. Edward (Helen) Yeutter of Defiance, 1 Betty Miller of Angola, Mrs.

6, 1942, he married Lucille E. Lovett who survives. Mr. Shroyer was a lifelong farmer in Bloomfield Township. He was a charter member, past president, secretary, treasurer and trustee of Grace Lutheran Church, Jackson Center.

He was president of Logan County Farm Bureau. He was a member of Logan County Co-Op Association and served as its president and secretary. He served as a Bloomfield Township trustee and clerk. He was presently serving on the Democratic Executive Committee on which he had served over 50 years. He was a member of the Democratic Central Committee, charter member of County Agrarian Club, Logan County Standard Bred Association, and was former secretary and treasurer of Ohio Horse, Pullers Association.

He had served as a 4H adviser, and was former president of Lewistown-Washington Athletic Association. He was an honorary life member of Logan County Sheep and Lamb Improvement Association. He was also an avid fan of Indian Lake Junior High and High School Athletics. Survivors also include a daughter, Kandy Wright of DeGraff; two sons, Larry E. Shroyer and Eric L.

Shroyer, both of DeGraff; eight grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Max (Velma) Frankel of North Hollywood, and Mrs. David (Chrystal) Williams of Studio City, Calif. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, at Jackson Grace? Center, Lutheran Pastor Thomas M.

McLaurin was a retired He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Wapakoneta Eagles Lodge 1160, and the Lima Senior Citizens. He was a life member of Lima Board of Realtors. He was an Army veteran of World War I. Survivors also include a daughter, Mrs. Paul J.

Alfred W. Newton Alfred Weston Newton, 86, of Lookout, died Tuesday at Valley Nursing Home, St. Marys. He was born Nov. 21, 1901, 1 in Stony Creek, N.Y., the son of Charles and Minnie Harris Newton.

Mr. was a millwright at Infernational Paper Co. He Had worked at the Naval Shipyard in Portland, and was retired from the Mayflower Van and Storage Co. He was a member of the International Order of Odd Fellows of Corinth, N.Y. Survivors include two sons, John C.

Newton of Lincoln City, and James E. Newton of Lookout, two daughters, Mrs. A.V. "Pat" (Florence) Poling of Las Vegas, and Mrs. Kenneth (Julia) Peak of Esparto, 18 grandchildren; 37 and 16 great-great-grandchildren.

29, 1950, he married Thelma kodgers who survives. Mr. Nichols was retired from Conrail after 35 years. 3, 1910, in Holgate, the son of O.M. Bullis. His wife, Caroline, preceded him in death. Mr. Bullis was a retired farmer and former boxer.

He had resided in Lima since 1975. Rev. Lymon Hofstetter will officiate. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Fort Jennings.

After a unanimous vote May 25, the officers were certified in the Fraternal Order of Police Ohio Labor Council on June 16 by the State Employee Relations Board, said Sgt. Jack Strahm, union representative. As of July 2, a third officer will be laid off at the department, reducing the officer number to six.
