Anonymous asked: Hello! Is it really true that CLAMP said that "Clear Card" would be a short story? On fb there is a page where they always complain about it (KnC). Also, I think that the administrators of that page steal CC spoilers from you, maybe they follow you on your different social networks (himitsu spica and luis gasca -seichan02- on tw). Aaaah, let's take a break from my fanart to reply to this ask...And since today I'm quite poisonous towards "rumors", incorrect translations about what CLAMP said and whatnot, let's dot the i's and cross the t's about this statement once and for all, because this is not the first time that I see it circulating especially from the keyboards of fans who are spewing negativity towards the story, towards the authors and are "tired" of seeing this serialization (kind reminder that no one is pointing a gun at anybody, you're free to get off the ride at any moment). First thing first: CLAMP never said that. CLAMP have never released a single interview about the production process of Clear Card, they only briefly mentioned it in their interview on Da Vinci of May 2022.They mentioned that they refused to produce a sequel for Sakura for long time, no matter how many people asked them about it, but then after so many years, they somehow came to feel it was the right time to do that. And they also touched briefly on why the story feels "slow" sometimes (it's because this time around, as opposed to the old series, Ohkawa wanted to take her time to portray properly the emotions of several secondary characters, not only the protagonist. It seems it's a regret she had from the previous series).Aside from this, we also have what they talked about in their CLAMP Spaces on Twitter, but those are mainly info on the current developments (and even future ones, when they had enough drinks). What those people are referring to, is 99% coming from an interview with Morio Asaka included in the Starter Book for the Clear Card anime that was released in April 2018.And what he said was something pretty different.First of all, he revealed that the "Clear Card project" was born as an anime first, and only in a second step as a serialized manga. After the initial talks about whether they should do a remake of the Clow Card arc anime with the modern technology, they opted for a new story. And THAT'S when the first talks about a possible manga came in the picture. In the very beginning, they took in consideration the possibility to make a one-shot manga to introduce and promote the anime series (a one-shot manga is a story of ONLY one chapter, pay attention! Probably what those people mean with "short story" -not even the right term they used in the interview- is a story of a moderate length, but if they really went through with their initial plans, all we would have of Clear Card in manga version would be A SINGLE CHAPTER)...but then, surprisingly, before Morio Asaka could even realize it, the manga side turned into a full fledged serialization! But all of this is still part of the PRODUCTION PROCESS, of the "talk stage" between all the parties involved (Kodansha, Madhouse and their staff, and CLAMP).IT DOES NOT MEAN that Clear Card started with chapter 1 on Nakayoshi, expecting to finish within short time, and then they suddenly extended it! That's bullshit and whoever tells you so is spreading incorrect info to suit their narrative.Moreso because Ohkawa recently, in a Twitter Space, said that when she thought the story for Clear Card, she had already decided the end (as she always does). And also that there was a particular event that she wanted to depict at all costs in this story, and if it weren't for that event, she would've never given the greenlight to restart Sakura again (and that makes sense, especially after refusing for so long). This is one of the rare cases in which Ohkawa talked about how Clear Card "was born" during their Spaces. There's no doubt that what we are seeing now in the story was decided ever since the beginning, as the Dragon appeared ever since chapter 2 and they gave us multiple hints along the years (mixing them with other red herrings). It's time to put an end to this game of "whispers" to vent frustrations, which end up modifying and twisting official info, especially if they were stated many years ago. I don't know if these people take my translations and cherry-pick what is convenient for them, but it seriously makes me want to stop providing any translation at all.Today I'm really pissed off.Ps. Anon, send me a DM or another ask for the other stuff, explaining what you mean by "stealing spoilers".
