Monday through Friday SOUTER, T. LORRAINE Beloved wife of the late George Reid Souter. Loving mother of Dennis and dear aunt of seven nieces and nephews through marriage. Mrs. Souter was born Thelma Lorraine Blondheim on March 11, 1920 in Saginaw, MI, the only daughter of Dennis and Jennie (Larsen) Blondheim of Birch Run.

Growing up, Lorraine and her parents lived in Oregon, Washington State and California. Her family moved back to Michigan and settled in Ferndale in 1935, where she met her husband to be at Lincoln High School. While in. school, she loved performing as a dancer in musical stage productions at the Fox Theater and Radio City Theater in Ferndale. After graduation, Lorraine was encouraged by her dance teacher to go to New York to pursue a professional stage career, but chose to remain at home and work for General Discount Mortgage Co.

in downtown Detroit. She married George, her high school sweetheart in 1942 and followed him to San Diego where he was assigned navel training during WWII. While there, Mrs. Souter worked as a civilian employee of the U.S. Navy until her husband shipped out.

She then returned home. After the war, the reunited couple settled down in Ferndale, had a son and then moved to Southfield in 1951. They were active members of Southfield Presbyterian Church and the McKinley School PTA. Lorraine also was devoted to her widowed mother and the two lunched out every day and made many friends playing bingo around town. After her mother's death in 1982, Mrs.

Souter enjoyed delivering Meals on Wheels with her husband, golfing and travel. With her husband's passing in 1990, she moved to the Rochester area and was active in the Church Street Singers and the National Federation of Women's Clubs. She also performed in musicals at the Older Person's Center in Rochester and enjoyed traveling, reading, doing crossword puzzles and playing bingo. In failing health for the past three months, Mrs. Souter passed away on December 29.

Memorial contributions to the church would be appreciated, 9492 The 42-year-old called family every two weeks, updating them in 15-minute blocks about the weather and the war. The last time he talked with his brother, Chris Christensen of Detroit, he asked for some flavored coffee to share with his battalion. "If someone needed some help, he'd be the first guy to step up," he said.

"He wouldn't say anything about it. He'd just do it." A few years ago, Sgt. Christensen moved to the Upper Peninsula, where he'd spent time as a child camping with the Boy Scouts. He went hunting and fishing, and enjoyed the solitude near his home in Atlantic Mine, his brother said. "He did things real quietly," he said.

"He wasn't good at tooting his own horn." But, his brother said, there was a lot to brag about. "He was so good looking, like a blond-haired Tom Cruise," Chris Christensen said. "He was the brains of the family, that's for sure." ADAMS PATRICIA M. Beloved wife of Vaughn. Dear mother of Paul (Barbara), John (Margaret), Mary, Theresa, and James (Sandra).
